Being a vegetarian in Mississippi is pretty difficult. I can't live off of lettuce! Although the only thing I've eaten at this restaurant was a salad... However, this want your ordinary "Oh look there's nothing for me to eat here I'll get a salad" kind of salad. This salad has artichoke hearts, sun dried tomatoes, Diaya VEGAN cheese, and amazing tempeh. My friend had the tofu hoagie and rally enjoyed it! Not only was the food delicious, bit the service was pretty great as well. Will definitely be coming back soon!

If Abita sells it in 12 oz bottles why is Mellow mushroom only serving in 8 oz bottles for twice the price..smdh

this was my third and last trip to Mellow Mushroom. The first time I went I ordered a veggie pizza. not that good, kind of soggy but that is sometimes the case with veggies, not enough grease to crisp it up I think but as far as veggy pizzas go, below avg I like the place though, nice bar, good beer selection so I went back and got the meat lovers pizza, very good. Back on my list of places. I went a 3rd time and got the supreme, meat and veggies and it was terrible. essentially it was undercooked, soggy and the dough not done. I was with a group of folks from work and did not want to make a minor scene otherwise I would have sent it back will not be back here

Wow...just learned that there is a new low in customers service. If you would like to find out where, please go to Mellow Mushroom and experience the glorious awfulness of their staff. Not only will they get your order wrong with no apologies, they will also lie to you about their mistake and charge you full price. Then a big bruiser from behind the counter can stare you down and ask you if YOU have a problem when you attempt to politely argue your point that you had not received good service. This is our weekly pilgrimage for pizza night fir our family. We strayed from our normal place to try something new...that was not a good idea. Our weekly family time was ruined because we had to go home after the terrible event and feed our kids because we left h u n g r y and over budget for our weekly pizza night. Mellow mushroom will never receive another dollar from me...ever

Not the best Mellow I have ever been to... But a fair review is in order. Our server was attentive and our pizza came out looking good. However, upon arrival it seem like nobody in the FOH staff knew what was going on. It took a while to be greeted and when we were actually greeted it was by someone who was working in the kitchen, he also took us to our table... a manager perhaps? Well, either way; a C+ experience.

the place is dirty. They dont wear hairnets so there was hair on my pizza. I ordered a pizza with no cheese. They made it with no cheese, but then puored parmesean on top.. When i corrected them they took it to the back, and i could see from the side window, them trying to wipe the cheese off instead of making me a new pizza. When the waitress noticed that i saw this she quickly came to the table, i told her that i saw what they did & that i'm allergic to cheese and cannot eat sonething that was touched by cheese, and she told me that they would just make a new one..... They still made me pay $13 fir it and it tasted crappy anyway. Keep Driving dont waste your time here. Just go to a more clean looking place. They are unsanitary

Don't get the review confused. If you want good pizza, this is the place to go. I do, however, take issue with waitstaff that forgets to put in your order with a nearly empty restaurant and proceeds to blame it on the kitchen mixing up orders when most people have theirs already. After a nearly 45 minute wait, it wasn't worth the time to inform her that the order was wrong. I'll probably eat here again, but it's not on the top of my list.

We eat at Mellow Mushroom a few times a month. My sweet daughter loves the mushroom man. I like several of the pies. The crust is mostly thick and tasty and the topping are tasty and fresh. The children's pizza is not a good pick. Frankly I take it off the menu. We have had great service the majority of the time, however, the bad ones stick out and make me rethink if we are really hungry or in a hurry. When the owner is there, everything runs great! We will continue to eat here. The humus is good and fast!!

Delicious pizzas! There's not many (if any) restaurants in the area that offer vegan options, this will be my new go to place while in the area. They offer 1/2 off pizzas from 11am-5pm M-F, what a great deal! Great service and good beers on tap.

It's a bit odd that while the place is called the mellow mushroom, it looks as though there were shrooms involved with the decor... Think I'm joking, check it out for yourself. Try googling the joint and hit images and there you have it... Btw, this place has the best pizza in the area. So don't "trip" off the decor, just mellow out on a few brews and slices. So, I lived in Biloxi for almost 5 years several years ago, and never tried this place out, despite hearing rave reviews about their Pizza. Finally, years later, I'm in town with my 5 year old daughter, and I figure pizza is a good family friendly vacation food. I should have kept my "Not going to MM" streak going, because this place is a giant disappointment. Starting at the beginning: we got there at about 4PM for an early dinner. Got seated quickly, ordered drinks, got those quickly. Then the problems started. We ordered an appetizer (the Parmesan garlic pretzels), a kids pizza sandwich thing, a jerk chicken salad, and a Philly cheese-steak sandwich. The salad got there first. Not a good sign. Means they keep refrigerated chicken breast (which in a place like this tells me -"precooked and comes in individual serving pouches from a factory") that they heated up in a microwave and covered in jerk sauce. Otherwise, it was just a Cesar salad. Quite hard to screw up, really. Then out came the pretzels. When you see "Parmesan-crusted" anything on a menu, it should mean "we covered it in Parmesan, then put it into the oven to bake." Not so with these pretzels. It looked like really doughy, unglazed pretzels with a (very) small amount of garlic butter that had Parmesan cheese from a can shaken liberally over the whole thing...after it was done cooking. It's almost like whoever came up with the idea had heard of Parmesan crusted whatever, but had never actually experienced it in person and was a little fuzzy on the idea. But whatever, right? I like cheese. Even cheese from a can. It was ok, and the marinara was no better or worse than any other very generic marinara. Then we got the kids plate. The pizza sandwich thing was a piece of french bread cut in half, covered in pasta sauce, cheese, and pepperoni. It's really hard to screw that up, so no complaints. Then came the Philly. What can I say about the Philly? The waitress very emphatically told me that the meat was cooked fresh every day and that she loved it. That "every day" part should have clued me in. The meat was lukewarm at best. It was also absolutely unseasoned. No salt, no herbs, nothing. Just cheap, burned, overcooked meat that was prepared in the morning and stored in a warming tray all day. When you get a sandwich that makes you long for some of the seedier food carts you've patronized, there's a problem. It was probably the worst Philly I have ever had in my life, not because it was disgusting, but because it was completely dull, bland, and flavorless. At least disgusting is interesting and makes for a good story. So after finishing our microwaved dinner, we sat and waited for the check. And waited. And waited. And waited some more. Meanwhile, our waitress was having a wonderful conversation with her buddy. Luckily, my daughter had befriended another waitress who kept our drinks topped up. We finally got the bill. Total with tip: $40.00. This is not a large sum of money by any means. I have gladly paid many times this for a great meal. This WAS a lot of money for bland, uninspired, uninteresting food served very slowly despite the fact that I have my doubts about how much cooking actually goes on in their kitchen. For $40, we had enjoyed a Thai fusion meal the day before at a place that ranks among my top-20 casual dining restaurants in the world. The Good: Better beer list than most places on the coast. The Bad: Slow service, fast-food quality dishes, boring and not terribly clean decor. The Ugly: There are much better places in the Gulfport/Biloxi/Ocean Springs area that are cheaper or equivalent in price.

Great pizza, service was a little slow but we went about 50 minutes from closing time on a Sunday. We had the house special. Great crust with a hint of garlic.

Ideal pizza to me is one that has a lot of ingredients piled on and a lot of thickness to it. I hate thin pizza with little to nothing on it. Every pizza I tried at this place totally delivers. I think for such a casual place, they have some really unique pizzas. My favorites were the Caesar Salad one as well as the Philosophers. This place is great for large groups. I came here with my family of about 16 people and we ordered 5 pizzas which was more than enough.

Oh how we love the Mushroom! Got motivated to join the beer club, but really that was just the excuse we used to eat there all the time. BTW, the beer club is drink 65 beers (no more than 6 a day, sorry kids!) and you get your name on a plaque and a beer stein. Yup. Good times! If you want great pizza with fresh and tasty dough...this is the place! Their sandwiches, the Drunken Fun Guys (go there to figure this one out), the salads...all of it is damn tasty!!!! I have yet to find anything that I didn't like there. At all. Not one thing. And Holly (and yes, the other staff) are great...make ya feel like one of the cool kids every time!

This is definitely the best place for pizza and wings if you're ever in the Biloxi area. While they are a chain, the quality of their preparation does not reveal it. I am a huge fan of their jerk chicken wings. I can devour an order of ten of them within minutes. They have just enough Caribbean spice to make your lips tingle with flavor after eating a pile of 'em. I added a star just for the wings. The sandwiches and pizza are great too. I was sold on this place after getting their signature 'house special' pizza. It has five different types of meat, but the pizzasmiths still find room to put a buffet of veggies on top. I usually save this place for Sunday or Monday since most everything else is closed on these days in Ocean Springs. I primarily take out too. However, it is a good location to dine in. They have a hundred odd beers on tap, so you'll find something you like if you drink beer. There are plenty of tv's too to watch 'the game'.

Finally decided to give this place a try after a year here in Ocean Springs. Being from Chicago....pizza always has a special place in my heart. However, now as a vegan, tough to find pizza places that can cater to that. This place rocks though! They went out of their way to make sure my vegan pizza is just how I wanted it as well as my girlfriend's meat-filled pizza. The girl taking orders was awesome as was everyone in the place when I picked up the pizza. The pizza is definitely very good...but the people and service are outstanding. We're regulars now!

We are in Ocean Springs on vacation from the Chicago area and who would have thought we would have to travel to Southern Mississippi to find some of the best pizza we have ever eaten? The Mega Veggi Pizza was wonderful and did I mention the Stuffed Portobello appetizer? It was as delicious as it was beautiful. We are only in town for eight days, but we will be going back!

The gluten free pizza isn't listed on their menu, but it's available, you just have to ask for it. Gluten free pizza only comes in a medium size :).

One of the first restaurants I went to when I moved here from California. Being a vegan is rough in MS, but Mellow Mushroom is AMAZING. The first time i went, my omnivore bf and i ordered a cheese-less pizza and changed a lot of what went on it, because we each like different things. The server was helpful and patient. Then we found out they had VEGAN CHEESE. So we went back, drooling in anticipation, and ordered it and some cheesy bread (our own creation that the waitress and kitchen were happy to oblige), and still changed a bunch of the toppings because...well, my boyfriend is still coming around to certain vegetable ;) Again, were super friendly, helpful, and the food was, of course, delicious. One of my favorite places in Mississippi so far. Thank you mellow mushroom for making my move just a little bit easier.

Had a decent pie there last week. Quality ingredients, thick crust. It's just awfully big. And not a lot to say about atmosphere-wise, yet I don't tend to go out for pizza and expect The Ritz. Our waitress was clearly overwhelmed. I was part of a large party (11) and we'd (dumbly) not made a reservation. Had a Southern Pecan here too. I'd give it 3.5 stars, maybe 3.75, but yelp won't let me.

Forgot about this place. The pizza is OFF THE HOOK. That means awesome. Yeah, you HAVE to wait. This ain't Dominos! Go get a beer and mellow out. Service can be slow but again, the food rocks so you gotta wait. Get another beer. I have tried three different pizzas here and still can't decide which one I like better. The calzone is a bit doughey (I made that word up I think) but that is what extra marinara was invented for. Get over there and try this joint out.

It's no secret that I'm a huge MM fan but this one is my favorite hands down. I've carried out or eaten in the bar area numerous times and on each visit the servers have been friendly and the food has been awesome. Great selection of vegan, vegetarian and carnivorous options. Apparently cider is one of their most popular beverages so occasionally they have been out of woodchuck on tap. They generally rectify the situation within a week or so but nevertheless it cost them a star since cider is a must have when I go to MM.

The pizza is okay at best, too doughy for my taste. Have no idea what they put on the Caprese salad but it looked like a motor oil. Service was slow for a half empty place. Their prices are like the dough, too much.

Now i am not a real pizza lover and I usually don't pick up a slice, unless I am in Chicago or NYC. But the Mellow Mushroom is a definite exception to this rule!!! MM's is the best pizaa in Mississippi hands down. I have visited their location in Ocean Springs and Flowood and they are off the chain. MM's is a real mellow spot where you can come in and enjoy gourmet pizza with names like Mighty Meaty and Kosmic Karma. Pizza not your thing, they have great salads and hummus. They offer a wheat crusted pizza that is so good I actually eat the outer crust. Great location for friends or family, you will not leave disappointed. Now if I can only get them to open a spot in Gulfport and pizaa might become a part of my weekly gastronomic regime.

Ridiculously great pizza! Their subs are also great (try the Jamaican jerk chicken) and their pretzels are also awesome. They do have an excellent selection of beers too :). The service could use a bit of improvement.

Slow just like all locations. What is with these places? Are you on mushrooms like your name and logo implies? Pizza is ok, but we have great pizza all around back home. Had to go to the bar for a beer...after ordering it with the waitress, took over 30 minutes, so sorry honey, your eating that one.

Met stepdaughters here on their recommendation (one from TX, other from AL). Had the magical mystery tour... a little pricey for pizza, considering the deals available at other establishments; not the voluptuous taste-fest on my tongue that was expected, but it didn't suck. We all had a slice and everyone made a yum-yum noise, maybe to be polite, I'm not sure, as they ordered other items too. Everything was clean, the wait staff efficient, the time between ordering and getting food seemed interminable, but overall worth a trip to try it out and see for yourself.

Well we went there for dinner and arrived shortly after 5. We were promptly seated and had our drink orders taken. The drinks arrived quickly and our order was taken. We ordered the cheesy garlic bread as an appetizer and a half steak and cheese as well as a half Jamaican jerk chicken sub. So far so good right? Well after the order the service just crashed and burned. After about 20 minutes the appetizer finally shows up. What a disappointment. All it was is a piece of bread cut into squares with cheese on top. Not once did I taste any garlic. After we were finished with the appetizer, the waitress came by and collected up the plate and replaced my drink. We then sat there and had to wait another half hour for the rest of our meal. I could understand the wait if we were a big party who placed a large order, but to have to wait that long for two half subs was just unacceptable. So an hour after we place our order our half subs finally arrived. The waitress tells us she is sorry that the wait was so long and asked if we wanted a bag of chips for waiting so long. A friggin bag of chips for having to wait an hour for two half subs. No free drinks or discount, just a lousy 90 cent bag of chips. Well as we are eating our dinner that finally arrived, not once did the waitress come back by and make sure that our food was alright or if we needed anything. My wife sat there for a half hour with an empty drink. The food was definitely not worth the wait. We will not be returning nor recommending this place to anyone else.

Absolutely the worst service on the entire gulf coast. Owners need to rethink hiring these teen age kids that goof off at work instead of taking care of customers.

4 and a half stars would be more appropriate but since I cant give a half star I went a head and gave them the full five .. As I used to be a local who regularly frequented this place .. its simply hands down the best pizza Ive personally had (and I have eaten a lot of pizza) prices are a little steep for pizza but Ill definitely pay it for this place. and the hummus omg the hummus.. I recently moved to Louisiana and there is not a mellow mushroom :( and I simply cant find anywhere who can compete with the pizza or the hummus .. oh and the pretzels are really good too..mmmm Dang now I want to go home just for the pizza :)

Tons of delicious options for every dietary restriction. Their white pizza was amazing. They also has tofu pizza and tofu and tempeh sandwiches for vegans and vegetarians. It can be so hard to find scrumptious vegetarian fare on the Coast, and this did not disappoint.

I live in Chicago and have had thick pizza, thin pizza, stuffed pizza but this is the most unusual pizza we have come across and it works! You choose your own sauces, your own cheeses and there is a nice selection of toppings. Bottled water was nice because the water in the area tastes very chlorinated. Good, friendly service. RECOMMENDED!

Three years have passed since the last time I visited a Mellow Mushroom, and I can honestly say I have never had a fluffier crust than what I have ever ordered from here. I came here for the first time when I was a part of AmeriCorps NCCC, a public service program where you travel the country doing one to two month service projects, and this was the first restaurant my team and I visited when we were stationed in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Just one word summarizes all of my visits here--DELICIOUS!!!! The crust is fluffy, and the pizza isn't too heavy when you digest it. The ingredients also taste mighty fresh. I must be a little bit slow, naïve, or maybe I was in denial, but the logo is a little bit funny--in a phallic sort of way. I guess it just adds to the 1980's mellow mushroom "cannabis-astic" feel of the environment. Mushrooms do look phallic... Hmmm.. I wonder if it motivates one's Freudic mind to think about the word "juicy" when you think about "pizza". A + + +.... Mellow Mushroom, I plan to visit you again. Best pizza I have ever tried, and I am not just ranting.

3 stars goes for this particular location. The pizza... was quite greasy and had too much undercooked/ flavorless dough for my liking. I've had much better pie from other Mellow Mushroom locations. My tofu hoagie wasn't made well either. They just weren't balanced well overall. Our server however was very friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Large selection of beers too. I really like pizzas, and LOVE that Mellow offers good options for Vegetarians and folks that wants something other than typical meat-heavy choices. Their extensive menu offers something for everybody. If this location improves their culinary department we would definitely visit more often.
